Coinkydink Or Coinkydonk? Academy Award Winner – Judd Apatow?!

An explanation may be required: Coinkydink = Coincidence & Coinkydonk = Not.  Happy now?

3 folks in this poster...

Since the previews were first shown for Judd Apatow’s “third film,” Funny People, I’ve had a feeling there was something a little more sinister going on behind the scenes.  Namely, I had a gut feeling Apatow might be seeking an Oscar nod.  Here’s the preview for anyone that doesn’t watch TV, have access to the TripleDoubleU, or go to the theater.  (Damn disabled embedding!)

Now I haven’t seen the film, and I don’t want to give away what I’ve learned of the plot, but believe me, it’s possible.  Apatow’s built himself a fairly sentimental/comical lineup, starting with television’s Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, up to his directorial efforts, The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up.  If Little Miss Sunshine and Juno can get nominations, why not Funny People?

Then it occurred to me.  Robert Redford directed a little film back in 1980 that cleaned up at the Academy Awards.  Want to know it’s name?

Ordinary People.

So I ask you, loyal audience wandering clickers spammers anybody, is it a coinkydink or a coinkydonk?

Double Happy Find… “Like A Boss” & “Charlie The Unicorn 3”

Okay, I really didn’t plan on loading this front page with all these videos, but life happens.  Move or be moved.  Dance or be danced… or something like that.

And I’m technically a day late on both of these (well two days for the first one), so hopefully you have yet to bear witness to the Lonely Island and Film Cow’s latest masterpieces:

JusWondering… Did Hollywood Go To Glamour Shots?

When I was at my favorite movie theater recently (I am a card carrying Frequent Movie Watcher), I noticed that they had (intentionally) placed four strikingly familiar posters beside one another.  I couldn’t quite place what was so similar, but they all drew the exact same emotional reaction from me…

ho-hum.  Just what the ad execs ordered (okay, maybe the T4 poster is kinda cool).  Instead, I think they should have hired this guy:

In My Brain While Sleeping… Perry Como Torture

I woke up this morning with this lyric stuck in my head: “Gee, the traffic is…”

I couldn’t remember the other word.  “The traffic is delicious.”  “The traffic is ridiculous.”  “The traffic is… delicious.”  I felt like Andy Bernard in “The Office” when he could remember the end of “Break me off a piece of that-duh-duh-duh!”

So first thing I do is turn on my pc to Google search the lyric, and found that “Gee, the traffic is terrific.”  Leave it to Perry Como to be happy about it!  And no wonder I couldn’t think of it!

Anywaterunderthebridge, I also dreamt an idea for “Hard Rain 2,” which may come in handy since Christian Slater’s once again out of work.  Although, in my version, Seth Rogan was one of the guys, and I think I had Nicholson Lite’s role.  I would detail it here, but it is actually pretty cool (IMHO) so I’m holding onto it for now.  If I change my mind, you’ll be the first to know (after any person I know in real life that will pretend to listen to me, i.e. my siblings).

(Some Andy Bernard highlights after the jump… and some bonus Creed.)
