Hibbidy-Wah?! My Mind Is In The Pitts For Sure

This is almost a post I don’t want to do.  It’s not that I don’t want to do it… It’s more that I shouldn’t.

And it’s not even that I shouldn’t… It’s just that, well, how about I stop beating around the bush…

This was not cut out by scissoring.

It’s about the company name up above.

I was recently watching someone playing the Pittsburgh Penguins at home, and my trained eye caught an ad in the Mellon Arena for Trib Total Media.  Who in their right mind would name their company that?  Who wouldn’t stop them and tell them what it’s short for?!  I covered this in one of my earliest posts, and I’m still not comfortable explaining it!  That’s why my lips are sealed!

So I guess that’s why this was a post I didn’t want to do… because I didn’t want it to rub anyone the wrong way.

Hibbidy-Wah?! Hibbidy-Wowza!

Me: "I wanna be in a Modern Family." *stomps foot*

Sofia Vergara has proven herself quite the comedienne on ABC’s Modern Family.   This commercial proves she’s also quite the salesperson when it comes to Pepsi:

I didn’t get the joke at first.  That’s why I watched it twelve times.

Hibbidy-Wah?! Death First, Safety Second

This was featured in a bit on G4’s Attack of the Show, and they only showed a snippet of it.  The entirety is much worse.

According to YouTube user “eiflerb”:

This video was discovered by someone who used to work at a public library several years ago. This has not been edited in any way. This is 100% authentic.

No matter what, it’s fucked up.

Hibbidy-Wah?! How Cool Would This Phone Be?!

At the mere mention of the phrase flip phone, I get the heebie-jeebies.  Remember them?

And at first glance, this high-concept “flip phone” wouldn’t seem ideal:

For some reason this calls to mind those water noodle science toys. What the fuck were those things?*

But when you watch this video, you’ll see the light:

*”Those things” were called water snakes.

"Those things" make me very uncomfortable.

Here’s their video representation (pssst… it’s not as cool):

Hibbidy-Wah?! The 80’s Are Alive! (…In Prague!)

This could have just as easily fallen under a Musical Musing post, but the obscure cross-section of music I’ve heard while in Prague honestly makes me say, Hibbidy-Wah?!

Some of these took a fair amount of research to uncover.  Some… I quite readily knew.  Hey!  Howzabout we have a So, Duh! Pop Quiz Pop Quiz.  See if you can guess which artists I knew, and which ones I didn’t.  Those answers will be after the jump.

1) Mike + the Mechanics’ All I Need Is a Miracle (amazingly, we heard this more than once)

2) The Climax Blues Band’s I Love You (I was going to look for a better video, then I realized this could not be topped)

3) Air Supply’s Sweet Dreams (I was wrong… the above video could be topped)

4) Genesis’ Man on the Corner (what a creepy song, eh?)

5) Bryan Adams’ Straight From the Heart (this is a video masterpiece… not only does it represent the Czech’s affection for How I Met Your Mother, but also how important apostrophes are)

Hibbidy-Wah?! Why Were Jokes Cut From The DVD?

How could he keep from kissing her? Aside from lawsuits anyway.

This, my dear friends, is the tale of me embarking upon a slippery slope.  I do have my defense at the ready as to why I would remember such a small detail, and I do have proof.  It’s been a while since I’ve jumped into the rabbit hole, and I think I’ve missed hanging out in the dirt.

AnyGreendale, I’ve been watching the first season of Community on DVD and I’ve noticed something that’s alarmed me.  There are actual jokes missing that made it to air but the digital disc.  In a world where uncut DVD’s are the norm, why is this show the exception!

The one I noticed for 100% sure happened in the beginning of the episode Social Psychology.  I know this for two reasons (besides this proof I’ve found), which I’ll get to after the proof.  This line, listed in AV Club’s review of the ep, is not on the DVD release:

You’re an eight, which is a British 10.

You can see it in action here:

Now how did I remember this independent of my research?

  1. Community is one of the few shows I watch more than once on my DVR (this, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and Delocated).
  2. I like Alison Brie.  And I thought her various “Oh’s” were brilliantly executed.

And it’s not the only bit trimmed.  This is from a review site’s thread (video proof here):

My only gripe with this release: One episode is cut down from the TV version. Chang’s opening scene (where he puts his face right into Annie’s and calls her “Princess Gringa”) is gone, and so is a couple of really funny lines from John Oliver (who was barely in the show as it is!).

All I Want For Christmas Is… To Know Why!?

Hibbidy-Wah?! No Effing Norway!

(UPDATE: VIDEO FIXED!)

I rubbed my eyes with lemon juice.  I squinted with toothpicks under my lids.  I snorted some Habanero sauce.  Salt was sprinkled onto my optical orbs, and nothing of what I had witnessed made any sense.

At first glance, you might mistake this video for an Insane Clown Posse one, based solely upon its production value, and you’d be right, except for the “clown” and “posse” part.  Maybe “clown” is relevant.

This is a commercial for the Norwegian show called Golden Times.  The way I wrote that sentence makes it sound like you should recognize it, so since you wouldn’t, I share it’s given name: Gylne Tider.  Apropos of nothing, that’s an anagram for

DETER LYING

of which I am with these truths.  So sit back, and

GENTLY RIDE

this strange ride on the TripleDoubleU that’s

LEGIT NERDY.

Without any further introduction, enjoy a slew (there has never been a better time to use this word) of random celebrities from the 80’s (and some 90’s) singing The Beatles’ Let It Be.  By my guesstimation, I would venture to, um, guess that this was what probably what killed Leslie Nielson, you Norwegian bastards!

(SIDENOTE: As you watch, you’ll find yourself thinking the cast can’t get any weirder, and it always does.  Also take note of what role each Actor! is recognized for.  It adds even more fun.)

Hibbidy-Wah?! 25 Years Passed Again?!

First, I could deal with it when Back to the Future celebrated its 25th Anniversary:

Remember that Saturday Night Live skit where Dana Carvey kept singing, "Gotta go back in time" to Michael J. Fox while they were in an elevator? Yeah, neither do I.

Then it kind of stunned me when I found out Super Mario Bros was also 25 years old (watch the video on the linked site for some digital nostalgia):

Are we sure this wasn't an Atari 7800 game?

And then! I found out Elmo from Sesame Street has been around for a quarter century:

He's the one that's not Grover.

But this was the last straw… the Chicago Bears Super Bowl Shuffle happened 5×5 years ago:

The Sh– To Just Sh–ty And A Hibbidy-Wah?! WTF Is Hulk Hogan Doing?!

I don’t mean to go and spoil the below video, but spoil you I must:

Hulk's showing off his real American.

What in the flying fuck is this not only doing in a promo for a stupid looking video game, but why in the flying suplex is Hulk Hogan pulling out his thumb wrestler in front of his daughter Brooke?!  Whether it’s real or not, it’s really dumb for real.

Hibbidy-Wah?! From Hiccup Girl To Hit Girl

I have to admit I’m rarely surprised anymore, even though I do run these Hibbidy-Wah?! posts fairly often.

But you have to realize, there is a big difference between finding out they make moustaches for cars, and finding out Jennifer Mee, who is more famously known as Hiccup Girl, has been arrested for murder.

I’ll let this Florida newscast fill in the rest:
