Degrees Of Happy Finds

The Wonder Bread Years

There are degrees to which I get happy about my Happy Finds.

For websites such as Celebrity School Pics, it makes me more sad than happy to find out they have a section devoted to porn stars… so this non-charting Happy Find would be a Meh Find.

Then there are sites like Bread People that entertain me, but not for long, like a pita roll compared to a baguette, so they merit the most generic of Happy Finds.  What else could set the bar other than bread humor?

Memba this?

Pica Pic can be considered an Excited Happy Find because sites like it provide unlimited interactivity… until you get bored with its unlimited interactivity.  There’s a reason Nintendo stopped making Game & Watch… and most recently it’s called the 3DS.

The last level of Happy Find is the Ultimate Happy Find.  It usually ends up relating to a site full of videos, and tends to be updated somewhat regularly.  It likely has misses, but there are enough hits to keep you coming back.  One example might be Bad Lip Reading.  Check out this sample:

Happy Find… Munsters No Longer Pushing Daisies!

They're creepy and the cooky, but you legally can't say that.

I wonder if I’m the only person that used that title.  Doubt it.

That’s because TV writer-producer Bryan Fuller created Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me, and now he’s set to relaunch The Munsters.  He’s turning it into a darker, hour-long series, as opposed to a cheesy sitcom.  I’d like to stay the happy medium of his other shows.  I feel like I’m writing this like I’m still in middle school.  I wonder if that’s subconsciously because The Munsters reboot reminds me of watching reruns of the original when I’d come home from school in the fifth grade.  It also reminds me of the time I learned the concept of the subconscious and I was still having trouble with run-on sentences and paragraph structuring.

Happy Find… Ideas Assemble!

The Avengers aren’t hitting the big screen until next summer, so here’s the trailer for the small screen version now:

Aside from that, there’s a newer online dating site called HowAboutWe that could be interesting… if I online dated.

But my other big to-do is about the Lytro, a functional light field camera, which means you can take a picture without worrying about focusing – you can change the focus later:

Happy Find… My Old VHS Tapes

Finally transferring shitty magnetic tape to the digital age.  Man, that stuff did not hold up!  Not sure about my friends’ comic sensibilities either…

Happy Finds… One For Now – One For Later

Write this name down:

Grace Helbig.

Why, you might ask?  Because this girl is gonna be Helbig.  Not big as in huge.  Well, not huge as in large.  Um, not large as in… well, I’ll just say it – not fat.  (But yes to phat.)

Anyyoutube, ever since first catching my attention on G4’s Attack of the Show, I’ve been checking out her vlog: Daily Grace.  And I can’t stop watching.

I don’t think she’s for everybody, but her comedic talents are palpable.  One of her better vids from last year:

I’ve sort of jumped around her catalog, but once I start, I’m mesmerized.  I truly believe her natural skills and natural looks could go over very well on the big screen.  And by big screen, I don’t mean fat screen.

Now back to the small screen… Have you heard this?

The Simpsons might get their own 24-hour channel!

How cool would that be?  I’d probably start watching them again… while in any waiting room… instead of the news.

Happy Finds… Googly Ey– Eff That! Yachts With Volcanoes!

I am a man of simple tastes.

My three favorite foods are (probably in this order):

  1. Pizza
  2. Cheeseburgers
  3. Tacos

I drink Mountain Dew and Miller Lite.  I shop at Target.  And I thought finding this site was enough of a Happy Find.

I mean, c’mon… googly eye magnets!

Look how shocked this hammer is!

But then I found about this:

Imagine the googly eye magnets you could put on that!

You can see more pictures here, but I bet one thing is for sure…

Your face looks a lot like the hammer right now.

Happy Find… The Rocketeer As A Cartoon?

This could be the greatest thing never made (into an actual show):

The Rocketeer is one of my all-time favorite films, and following the 20th Anniversary of its release, coupled with director Joe Johnston’s success with Captain America: First Avenger, there has been talk of a long-awaited live-action sequel.

I say cartoon is the way to go.  You can still use the original Actors! (or at least close enough sounding ones), instead of recasting or rebooting the series.  (Can it be a series if there was only one?)

Could a TV show fly?  Perhaps with a little gum

(Sort Of) Happy Find… White People Problems (Plus My New Idea)

The site White People Problems is hit or miss, but when it’s good, it’s okay.  Basically, it doesn’t make you laugh or smile, but it will make you think this sound:

Heh.

That’s what makes it a (Sort Of) Happy Find.  Oh, you want examples?  Here’s some hehxamples:

So these got me thinking… not about other ethnic group’s problems, or Western culture collectively, but about retirees.  I only say this because my retired mother recently complained about how she was upset about one event because she couldn’t plan out her vacations.  Yes, there’s an S on the end of that.

So allow me to introduce my latest brainchild, ImSoRetired.  Here are some examples:

Things That Make You Go Heh

Happy Find… The Legend Of Korra Preview

I.

Can’t.

Wait.

(Even though I have to.  Until when?  Maybe next year???)

(SIDENOTE: I think it’s kind of stupid that they can’t use Avatar in their title anymore because of the dumb tail-fucking blue people.  Avatar: The Last Airbender used it first!)

Maybe if I freeze myself, I can get to see Legend of Korra that much quicker…

Happy Find… First World Problems Rap

I originally saw this kid’s spoof of Rebecca Black’s Friday, and his speech impediment was off-putting.  This video is clever enough that I could ignore that.

His choices are what make this work because they are not easy attempts at humor.  For easy attempts at humor, check out the two videos below this one (or this blog on a regular basis):
